Tomorrow, on World Heart Day, the Pumping Marvellous Foundation and the Heart Failure Academy will launch Navigating the Heart Failure Journey in Primary Care: A Personalised Approach to Living Well at an invite-only event at the Leeds Armouries.

Developed jointly for generalist multidisciplinary teams in primary care, the practical, evidence-based booklet brings the experience of people living with heart failure into a resource designed to support everyday clinical practice. It reflects a shared ambition: to help teams recognise heart failure, navigate the care pathway and support each person to live as well as possible.

Speakers at the launch include Dr Rani Khatib, NHS England’s National Specialty Adviser for CVD Prevention, Dr Alex Simms Heart Failure Academy Clinical Lead, Consultant Cardiologist, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Dr Nick Hartshorne-Evans BEM. Their contributions with others, will bring together national cardiovascular priorities and the patient perspective that shapes our work.

For Pumping Marvellous, this resource is part of a wider commitment to strengthening heart failure care in the community. Alongside our Marvellous Masterclasses and BEAT to TREAT programme, it offers primary care networks, clinicians, pharmacists and system leader’s practical ways to connect professional learning, symptom recognition and earlier diagnosis.

We look forward to working with PCNs, ICB cardiovascular leads, Health Innovation Networks and others who want to put these resources to work for their local communities. Above all, we want more people with heart failure to be recognised sooner, supported well and heard throughout their care.
