Government explicitly backs AI-assisted echocardiography for earlier CVD diagnosis. Lord Taylor of Warwick received the Government’s answer on 22 September 2026 to his question about NHS adoption of AI for early detection of heart disease. Responding for DHSC, Baroness Merron confirmed that Government is exploring AI for earlier detection and diagnosis of CVD and specifically named AI-assisted echocardiography, automated ECG interpretation and digital-stethoscope recordings. Crucially, she said NHS England’s physiological sciences strategy positions AI as an enabler of community-based diagnostics, supporting faster and more standardised analysis. (UK Parliament)

This aligns our BEAT to TREAT model which is currently employed in hubs currently across the UK. The parliamentary record now contains an explicit ministerial statement connecting earlier detection + AI-assisted echo + community diagnostics. This is useful policy evidence. We believe this strengthens the case for presenting BEAT to TREAT as a practical delivery model, scalable and aligned with the Government’s stated diagnostic direction.
