The Alliance for Heart Failure have released a new report called Heart Failure: An Unsustainable National Health Emergency. The report examines and explores what this emergency looks like in the UK.

Here is an excerpt from the report:

“Across the UK, around one million people are living with a heart failure diagnosis and an estimated further 400,000 are living with the condition undiagnosed. By 2040, cases are projected to nearly double, with a growth rate higher than cancer and dementia.

This presents the NHS one of the most pressing challenges of the century.

Our new report uses data from Hospital Episode Statistics, the Office for National Statistics and the NICOR National Heart Failure Audit to establish what this growing burden looks like across the NHS in England, broken down to the level of all 42 Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) between 2021 and 2025.”
