We know many people have a delayed diagnosis of heart failure. We hear it from patients and healthcare professionals alike. Even the National Heart Failure Audit consistently reports that 80% of people are diagnosed in the Hospital setting, where 41% of those have previously presented in Primary Care with symptoms of heart failure.

However, we believe that addressing these challenges can significantly improve how heart failure is managed across the NHS. Efficient diagnosis and timely initiation of optimised medications can lead to better patient outcomes, including reduced mortality, improved quality of life, and a lower likelihood of hospitalisation.

A typical diagnosis of heart failure, from symptom recognition through to an echocardiogram and review, may take months; some of our patients have waited years before their presentation has been seen as if it could be heart failure. They, however, still need treatment.

Our goal is to revolutionise the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure, and we aim to achieve this in a remarkably short time of 60 minutes.

We can do this by combining innovative but existing evidence-based, guideline-directed pathways.
