Pumping Marvellous CEO Received Award of Honorary Degree of Doctor of the University at Glasgow Caledonian University
“Nick Hartshorne-Evans BEM is the CEO and Founder of The Pumping Marvellous Foundation, a pioneering UK charity empowering thousands of people living with heart failure. He established the unique charity in 2010 after being diagnosed with the condition at just 39. His experiences ignited his passion to establish the country’s only nationwide, patient-led heart-failure support network.
Founded with a focus on providing essential guidance and face-to-face support to heart failure patients in East Lancashire, the foundation has transformed into the UK’s leading heart-failure charity, anchored in the experiences of patients and their families. Supported by a national network of volunteers and partnerships with NHS teams across the UK, the foundation raises awareness about the condition, which affects a million people in the UK and 64 million globally. In addition, it fundraises, supports patients and advocates for their treatment and care. As manager of the world’s largest online community of heart-failure patients, the foundation uses their insights to shape national policies in collaboration with organisations such as NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), the SMC (Scottish Medicines Consortium) and the NHS.”
